At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court this morning, a father of three was sentenced to 24 months behind bars, after he admitted in Court to stealing cash, jewellery and other items worth $1.1 M from his Girlfriend.

35-year-old, Winston Marsha stood before Principal Magistrate, Judy Latchman in a very composed manner and admitted to the offence after it was read .

The Court heard that between the 6th and 7th April at Durban Street, he broke into the dwelling house of Abena Houston and stole a quantity of jewellery worth $846,000, $200,000 in cash along with US$300.

The Police Prosecutor, Arvin Moore stated that the two are known to each since they both shared a relationship.

He said the woman discovered the items missing while she was doing chores and after reporting the matter to the Police, the boyfriend was arrested and charged. 

The man claimed that he stole the items to take care of his children and pay off several debts.

He showed no remorse and was sentenced to 24 months in jail.
