The Court was told that on the 16th August, at East La Penitance, Chan stole a gold chain worth $60,000, which was the property of Terrence Green and a motor van worth $2.4M, which was the property of Blaise Bailey.

A 66-year-old man was granted bail in the sum of $380,000 on Friday after he was allegedly charged with stealing a motor vehicle and a gold chain.

South Ruimveldt resident, Desmond Chan, stood before a City Magistrate and denied the allegations made against him.

The Court was told that on the 16th August, at East La Penitence, Chan stole a gold chain worth $60,000, which was the property of Terrence Green and a motor van worth $2.4M, which was the property of Blaise Bailey.

According to the court filings, the two victims were having a conversation outside of the vehicle, when Chan hopped in vehicle and drove off, leaving the two men confused and shocked.

Efforts were made to catch up with him but they came up empty handed.

However, he was eventually arrested and charged. The vehicle is still have to be recovered but bail was granted and the case will come up again on October 27, 2017.
