At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today, a businessman was charged and remanded to prison for allegedly trafficking four Venezuelan women.

The Courtroom of Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan was told that, businessman Kenneth Summon was found trafficking the women as a means for them to pay back money they had borrowed from him.

He denied the charges.It was on November 3, 2017 that he was intercepted with the four women in a boat. The Police moved in after receiving a tip off.

The Court heard that when the women were questioned, they told investigators that the man was taking them to the gold mining area “to work” so that they could repay him for loans he had provided to them.

After hearing the initial presentations in Court, the Chief Magistrate remanded the businessman to prison until later this month, when the case will come up again.
