He was once charged in connection with the Princess Casino robbery, but now while on bail for that charge, the accused, Wayne Griffith has found himself back in Court facing an additional robbery charge.
Griffin stood before Magistrate Leron Daly and denied the charge against him. The charge stated that on the 25th July at Stabroek Market, while in the company of another man, he robbed Lezal Khan of a gold chain along with a gold band, totaling $350,000.
The Court was told that the accused and an unknown accomplice, approached the victim, who was at the time with his wife, and demanded that the couple hand over their valuables.
The Prosecutor told the Court that out of fear, the man handed over his jewellery.
But while the bandits bolted from the scene, khan was able to raise an alarm. Police officers nearby gave chase and were able to apprehend Griffith who was found with the gold chain, but the band was missing.
In the Court today, the sister of the accused offered to pay for the band that has not been recovered. That offer did not find favour with the Court and the man was remanded to prison until hisnext court date in mid August.
