Clothes thief sentenced to six months in jail after guilty plea

At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today, a 53-year-old man who is no stranger to Law Enforcement, was sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to stealing more than $200,000 in clothes from a Charlestown store.

The Courtroom of Magistrate Fabayo Azore, heard today that Kenrick Gary, while being in the company of another man, robbed Barbara Nedd of a large quantity of clothing.

The man reportedly went into the store and ordered the pieces of clothing but bolted from the store without paying.

He jumped into a nearby car and escaped. However, when the store owner visited the Police station to file a report, she noticed the same man in the station facing similar accusations from someone else.

The man admitted to the Court that he did steal the clothing but claimed that he had an accomplice who only gave him one pair of pants, a pair of shoes and a shirt. He said the store owner was exaggerating the cost, but he pleaded guilty anyway.

After declaring the guilty plea, the Magistrate handed down the six month sentence.
