With tears flowing down his face, a Sophia youth declared his innocence as he made his first appearance in Court, to answer to the charge of armed robbery.
He was immediately remanded to prison.
20-year old, Seon Williams, stood before Magistrate Judy Latchman and entered a plea of not guilty to the robbery charge.
The charge stated that Williams, while being in the company of another man, at Lamaha Avenue, robbed Virgil Flemming of a quantity of gold, two cell phones and other items, totaling $302,000.
With swollen eyes, Williams weeped throughout the hearing and told the court that he is innocent of the crime and also claimed that he was beaten by someone who pinned the crime on him.
The Police Prosecutor objected to bail on the grounds that a gun was used to carry out the crime. It is alleged that the accused discharged several rounds during the robbery.
The youth was taken way in custody after being remanded and will make his next court appearance on October 2, 2017.
