A dredge owner, who is suspected of carting off $500,000 worth in food items, when he was hired to transport the items was today charged.

58-year-old, Michael Boodhoo appeared before Principal Magistrate, Judy Latchman and entered a not guilty plea.

The charge read that, on the 23rd December 2016, the accused stole two boxes containing food stuff and other items worth $500,000, which were all the property of Lisa McDonald.

The Police Prosecutor in a statement to the Court, said on the day of the incident, the woman hired Boodhoo to transport her goods around town.

However, when she hopped out of his vehicle to use a rest room, she could not find him on her return.

It was only recently that the woman spotted the driver and raised an alarm, although it was two years after the incident.

He was immediately arrested and prepared for his Court appearance. He has been granted bail in the sum of $160,000 and will have to return to Court later this month.
