A 23-year-old man is dead, and his friend has been left in a critical condition following a motorcycle accident in the South Ruimveldt area on Monday.
The dead young man has been identified as Sunil Samaroo of Grove, East Bank Demerara.
The injured friend, who remains in a critical condition, has been identified as 24-year-old, Keitze Bazilo of Charlestown.
The accident occurred just after 1:30 yesterday afternoon along Aubrey Barker road.
Investigations revealed that Samaroo was riding an unregistered motorcycle along with the pillion rider, and was allegedly racing with two other motorcycles, when in the vicinity of the Tucville bridge, he lost control, causing them to fall off the motorcycle onto the road surface.
Both men were taken to the Woodlands Hospital in an unconscious state. The rider was pronounced dead on arrival. The pillion rider is now a patient of the same hospital.
Investigations are ongoing this morning.
