Linden taxi driver freed of marijuana possession charge

At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today, a Linden taxi driver who was charged for marijuana possession back in July, was freed of the charge after the Magistrate upheld a no case submission.

34-Year-Old Glenmore Mcbean, was charged for having 16 pounds of marijuana in his car when he was stopped and searched along the Linden Soesdyke Highway.

However, as the case progressed, the investigating officers from the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit, all provided different statements and testimony on exactly how the bust was made and where the marijuana was discovered.

Based on the conflicting testimony, the Magistrate dismissed the charge against the driver and he was allowed to walk free.

Its unclear whether CANU intends to file new charges in the matter.
