Man sentenced to six months in jail for stealing hospital’s AC unit

A man who is no stranger to the court was on Friday sentenced to 6 months in jail, after he admitted to stealing an air-condition unit front the Georgetown Hospital.

The man, Asif Mohammed stood before a Georgetown Magistrate and entered a plea of guilty to the charge of simple larceny.

The charge stated that on the 8th October, at the Georgetown Hospital, he stole an AC Unit worth $125,000, which is the property of hospital.

When Asif was asked to give an explanation, he told the Court that he was walking around and saw part of the AC Unit out of the building and decided to grab it.

The Prosecution told the Court that a staff member of the hospital saw the man ripping out the air conditioning unit and raised an alarm. He was caught red-handed and was arrested by security and handed over to the Police.

Back in 2011, the convict also served time in jail on a number of simple larceny charges.
