Police investigators in the Potaro area are probing the murder of a gold miner, who is suspected to have been beaten to death by a fellow miner.

The dead man has been identified as Mohabir Gangadeen of the Timehri area.

The murder took place on Saturday in the Potaro Backdam.

Police reports stated that Gangadeen and another miner were involved in a drunken row that became physical.

Gangadeen was badly beaten by the other man and his body was left motionless.

Investigators have since arrested the suspect and a murder charge is likely to be read to him in the coming days.
