The Court was told that on the 10th February at Sand Hills, Cuyuni Mazaruni (Region Seven), Ralph murdered, mining colleague Richard Culpepper.

Miner remanded to prison for murder of mining colleague during fist fight

A gold miner was remanded to prison today after being charged for the murder of another miner.

Haslington resident, 26-year-old, Jumar Ralph, was not required to enter a plea to the indictable charge of murder.

The Court was told that on the 2nd October, 2016 at Sand Hills, Cuyuni Mazaruni (Region Seven), Ralph murdered, mining colleague Richard Culpepper.

The two men were reportedly among a group that got involved in an argument,which turned into a fight.

It was during the fight that the accused pulled out a knife and stabbed Culpepper to his chest.

He ran from the scene and went into hiding but was recently arrested. The case has been transferred to the Bartica Magistrates’ Court, where the murder accused will have to make his next appearance at the end of the month.
