At the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court today, a miner who was recently charged for robbing two individuals, in vicinity of Stabroek Market, decided not to waste the Court’s time and entered guilty pleas to the charges.

34-year-old, Devon Holder, a resident of Onderneeming, West Bank Demerara confessed that on January 9, 2018 at Stabroek Market, he stole one gold chain worth $530,000 property of Rafeek Mohammed.

He also admitted to robbing Pamela Gibson of $100,000 in the same area while using violence.

The accused stood before Magistrate Annette Singh, unrepresented and admitted to both offences.

In her ruling, the Magistrate said she has considered the fact that the accused is a repeat offender who had appeared before the Court several times previously on similar offences.

He was sentenced to two years in jail on each charge and the sentences will run concurrently.
