A Driver attached to the National Insurance Scheme (NIS), was today charged for causing death by dangerous driving. He was released on $600,000 bail.

46-year–old, Dwayne Gonsalves, made his first appearance before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan and entered a plea of not guilty to the charge after it was read.

The charge stated that on the 3rd November, at James and Barr Streets, Albouystown, Gonsalves  drove motor lorry GBB 8499, in a manner dangerous to the public, causing the death of Ronaldo Jaundoo.

According to reports, the accused was heading north along Barr Street, when he failed to stop at the intersection at James Street, and collided with the teen motorcyclist.

The impact of the collision resulted in the teenager suffering from serious head injuries. He was taken to the Georgetown Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

During this morning’s hearing, the Police Prosecutor objected to bail based on the fact that a life was lost.

However, the Magistrate granted bail and had man’s driver’s license suspended until the end of the trail.

The matter is set to continue on the November 23rd.
