Third accused remanded for Emancipation Day shootout at Police

Three weeks after two suspects were charged for discharging a loaded firearm at two police officers, a third suspect found himself in Court today and was charged with the same offense along with robbery under arms.

23-year-old, Carlton Bourne stood before Principal Magistrate, Judy Latchman and was not required the enter a plea to the indictable charges of discharging a loading firearm.

However, he denied the charge of robbery under arms.

The Court was told today that on the 1st August, at Chapel and Norton Street, Bourne discharged a loaded firearm at Police Officers Lester Lewis and Royston Mendonca, with the intent to cause actual bodily harm.

It was further alleged that on the 6th July, while being armed with a gun at Hadfield Street, the youth robbed Sharon Hoppie of $270,000 in cash and other items.

The accused was remanded to jail until later this month.
