Three remanded to prison for $28 million armed robbery of Chinese businessman

The Court heard that on the 20th May, 2017, at Craig, East Bank Demerara, the men were armed with handguns when they robbed businessman, Dai Zhou Cheng of one mini-bus, two Cell Phones, $500,000 cash and a large quantity of Fish Glue.

Three remanded to prison for $28 million armed robbery of Chinese businessman

Three men stood before Magistrate Judy Latchman today and were slapped with robbery under arms charges.

It is alleged that the three robbed Chinese businessman of more than $28.5million in various items.

35-year-old, Winston Mackenzie, 29-year-old, Fayaud Amid and 26-year-old Andrew Vieira, all made their first appearance in Court today and were not required to plea to the charges.

The Court heard that on the 20th May, 2017, at Craig, East Bank Demerara, the men were armed with handguns when they robbed businessman,  Dai Zhou Cheng of one mini-bus, two Cell Phones, $500,000 cash and a large quantity of Fish Glue.

The items totaled $28.7 million.

The Police Prosecutor objected to bail after the charges were read. The Magistrate refused bail to the three men and they were remanded to prison. They will make their next court appearance on July 12, 2017.
