Unemployed woman busted with cocaine strapped to her body

A 31-year-old woman was on Thursday busted with a quantity of cocaine strapped to her body while attempting to leave Guyana’s shores for Suriname.

The Police said the bust amounted to 668 grams and the interception was made at No. 78 Foreshore, Corriverton, Berbice.

The woman was identified as Senimelia Alizzia Lewis, of 84 Sugar Cane Street, South Ruimveldt Gardens.

She appeared in Court this morning and was charged and remanded.

The woman was observed by both police and Guyana Revenue Authority Enforcement Officers acting in a suspicious manner, resulting in her being subjected to a search which uncovered the illegal substance strapped to her body.

She was arrested and later charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. She appeared before Magistrate Singh at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court and pleaded not guilty
