20-year-old Tia Gibson went to the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court as a visitor two days ago, but was returned today as a suspect.

The Charlestown woman was arrested on Monday after she allegedly made an attempt to smuggle marijuana stashed in “Cheese Sticks” packages to a remand prisoner at the same Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrate Fabayo Azore was today told that the woman appeared at the Courthouse to support a man who is currently on remand for a murder charge and had a court date on Monday.

While at the Courthouse, she was seen acting suspiciously close to the lock-ups. When officers decided to carry out a search, they found just over 6 grams of marijuana stashed in the packages of the cheese stiks snack.

The woman tried to escape, but was cornered and arrested.  In Court today, she pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of $25,000 and ordered to return to Court in February.
