Two teenaged friends were killed in a late night Essequibo accident at Lima when the car they were in crashed through a fence as the 15-year-old driver lost control.

The accident occurred just after midnight Thursday morning. The driver of the car, 15-year-old Dedesh Mohabir and his 19-year-old friend, Rupesh Jado both died as doctors at the Suddie Hospital battled to save their lives.

The two teens suffered serious head and upper body injuries. Police investigators probing the accident believe the 15-year-old unlicensed driver may have had little driving experience and lost control of the car while speeding.

The accident came just moments after a 27-year-old Craig, East Bank Demerara woman was killed in an accident on the East Bank of Demerara.

The woman who has been identified as Latoya Thompson was a pillion rider on a motorcycle when a car that failed to stop at a traffic light collided with the motorcycle. She died on the spot while the rider of the motorcycle has been admitted to hospital.

The driver of the car ran away from the scene.  Investigations are ongoing.
