According to a Police report, the young girl and two of her relatives were in the back seat of Motor car bearing license plate number PMM 1426 which was proceeding south on Sheriff Street.

Police investigators are getting ready to file charges against a 19-year-old  man who was drunk and driving when he slammed into another car, resulting in the death of a 4-year-old girl who was in that car with her family.

The incident took place on Saturday night on Sheriff Street in Georgetown.

According to a Police report, the young girl and two of her relatives were in the back seat of Motor car bearing license plate number PMM 1426 which was proceeding south on Sheriff Street.

The car stopped at the centre of the junction and in the process of turning west, motor vehicle GPP 3500 which was proceeding north collided with the left of the car.

The child was flung from the vehicle through the window died on the sport.

The other two occupants, Abiola Trotman and Cheryl Williams, who received injuries, have been admitted at the Georgetown Hospital. Their conditions are regarded as stable. The driver of the car who was unhurt, is in police custody.

The 19-year-old man was the driver of the other vehicle. He is currently a patient at Woodlands Hospital.

Police investigators said he was tested and found to be above the legal alcohol limit.

Meanwhile, the investigation is also looking at how the 19-year-old was granted a license for a motor van.
