Over 35 pounds cocaine found in ceramic ornaments at CJIA

Two persons have been taken into custody by the Guyana Police Force after the Police Narcotics Branch busted over 35 pounds of cocaine that was concealed in a shipment of heart-shaped ceramic ornaments that were destined for Europe.

The drug bust was made on an Amerijet cargo flight that was being loaded to depart the Cheddi Jagan airport just after 8 o’ clcok on Monday morning.

The Police Narcotics agents were able to uncover the stash of cocaine neatly concealed in the ornaments. One of the persons arrested is believed to be a 30-year-old young woman who lives in D’Aguiar’s Park.

She was reportedly listed as the shipper for the drug consignment.

Just last Friday, two foreign nationals were busted at the same airport during their efforts to ferry cocaine out of the country. On Friday morning, a US citizen was busted as he tried to board a flight with over 14 pounds of cocaine hidden in milk powder packets. About 12 hours later, a British citizen was busted when he attempted to take cocaine out of the country concealed in milk powder tins. They all remain in custody and will face drug trafficking charges later this week.
