An East Bank Essequibo woman and her two children are in Police custody following the discovery of the lifeless body of a 64-year-old Vergenoegen man in his house.
The man who police have identified as Azad Ghanie was found in his home on Monday night with several injuries to his head. The elderly man lived in the upper flat of the house while the woman and her two children lived in the bottom flat.
Police investigators believe that sometime during the course of the day on Monday, the man was badly beaten by the woman.
Investigators are also following reports that the woman’s two children may have played a part in the alleged assault of the man, which investigators believe led to his death.
A probe is under way.
