The Alliance For Change today indicated that it is moving ahead with a “fired up” campaign for the local government elections to showcase its “fit and proppa” candidates, but the party is now contesting in less local government areas than it had intended.

Today, party officials revealed that the party will be contesting the elections in 38 local authority areas. Initially, the party had planned to contest the elections in more than 50 areas.

AFC officials are blaming a number of issues for the decision, including political bullying and a problem of communication.

The party’s campaign manager David Patterson, told reporters today that the party is still moving forward and still satisfied with where it finds itself.

According to Mr. Patterson, “we will be putting our full efforts wherever we are competing”. He said the party will be concentrating on the areas and townships where it is fighting and not where it’s not.

Patterson said he believes the AFC presents the best opportunities for those communities that are looking for development.

The People’s Progressive Party had raised objections to a number of AFC backers in some communities, claiming that some of the persons who signed on as nominators were tricked into doing so.

The AFC has denied that claim and has found itself in a tit for tat war of words with the PPP about the party’s chances on its own at the upcoming elections.
