APNU+AFC convinced PPP cannot catch up to its “commanding lead”

The APNU+AFC coalition has announced that based on its tabulation of 2,025 statements of polls out of the total 2,299 countrywide, it is convinced it is heading to victory.

The coalition said it has calculated 85% of the statements of polls and its lead has creeped up to more than 20,000 votes.

According to the coalition, the results from the 2,025 statements reveal that it has picked up 182,176 votes while PPP got 157,946.

The APNU+AFC believes there is no way the PPP could catch up and surpass that figure.

APNU+AFC Presidential Candidate David Granger told media operatives that after careful examination of the results, it has a “commanding lead’ in the elections results”. He said supporters should still remain calm as the official announcement of the results will come from the Guyana Elections Commission.

Mr. Granger said there is nothing wrong with the coalition presenting its totals based on the statements of polls since those statements of polls are public documents that have been posted outside polling stations.

Prime Ministerial Candidate, Moses Nagamootoo said the results are the hard work of supporters all across the country. According to the APNU+AFC, it has been able to make inroads into PPP areas while seeing a boost of support in its strongholds.

Supporters of the coalition broke out in excitement outside the campaign headquarters in Queenstown as news of the “commanding lead’ was provided to them. Many of those gathered expressed satisfaction with the elections process and said they are ready for change.
