The Guyana Police Force has announced that 45-year-old. Mark Angoy aka Marc, who was wanted for the murder of 1-year-old Arianne Gill, surrendered to law enforcement early this morning.
In a statement, the Police Force said the man turned himself in to the police at Grove Police Station on the East Bank of Demerara. He is expected to face murder charges before the end of this week.
He was positively identified as the person who opened fire on the house of his ex-lover on Sunday afternoon, shooting her 1-year-old grandchild dead and injuring her 12-year-old daughter.
According to the baby’s grandmother, Shelly Norton, she was at her Annandale home with her three daughters and grandchild when she heard the gunshots.
She said as she ran towards the living room, she saw her ex-lover shooting into the house from the outside.She said although she and the man were in a relationship for a number of years, they had no children together.
The woman said she broke up with the man five weeks ago and he has been threatening her ever since.The two operated a business in the interior and after the break up, she came back to the city and moved out of their home along with her daughters and grandchild.
Ms. Norton said she suffered years of abuse at the hands of the man and the two were schedule to make an appearance in court this week over an outstanding matter, but the threats became intense over the past few days.
“I was in my room about to take a nap, my daughters were watching television with the baby and all I hear was these loud gunshots. So I ran to the living room and I saw this man with the gun aiming it at my daughter Ashley and the baby. I am not sure if he saw me, but he just kept on shooting in the house then ran off to a waiting car”, she recounted.
