It appears as though the Administration has started to move on the recommendations of the Paul Slowe Commission of Inquiry into allegations of an assassination plot against the president.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Wendell Blanhum, who was criticized in the report for his poor investigation of the matter, has been removed as Crime Chief and will now be second in command of A’ Division, which is the largest Police Division and includes the capital.
Mr. Blanhum returned to work on Monday after three months of accumulated leave yesterday and was informed of his new position at Brickdam.
As crime chief, he was in charge of the criminal investigations department of the force.
It was his first command position and the COI report had cited his inexperience in commanding any division before he was made crime chief.
The Commission of Inquiry report offered several recommendations to shake up the police force because of its poor handling of the probe into the alleged assassination plot.
It has also recommended that the Police Commissioner be fired for his alleged interference in the investigations. The government has opted to have the Commissioner of Police proceed on special leave.
That special leave is expected to continue into the new year and is likely to continue close to his retirement.
