A street vendor in the Bourda area was shot dead late last night when he attempted to fight off three bandits who were demanding his jewellery.
The dead vendor has been identified as Troy Romalo who was believed to be in his mid 40’s.
According to reports, it was just after 11 o clock on Wednesday night, while Romola was plying his trade of selling cheese, that he was approached by the three men who demanded that he handed over his jewellery.
The vendor reportedly refused and put up a fight, in an attempt to stop the men from taking jewellery. He was shot to the chest.
The three men ran from the scene while a passerby rushed the vendor to the hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.
Romalo who was also known as rasta, was well known in the bourda market area where he had been plying his small business trade for several years.
