Georgetown City Councillor, Junior Garrett died this afternoon after collapsing at his office.
Earlier today, Council workers said he appeared full of energy as he made a presentation at one of the Finance Committee meetings of the Council as they prepared the budget.
He left the meeting just after it ended and reportedly went back to his office. Just over an hour later, the City Council received news that he had collapsed and was rushed to a hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
It is suspected that he may have died from a heart attack. All morning during the Finance Committee meeting, he told other Councillors that he wanted to leave early because of another appointment.
Garrett was a representative of the APNU+AFC Coalition on the council for the Campbellville constituency.
He was also a long serving member of the People’s National Congress Reform, which has the majority of members on the council as part of the coalition.
