BV youth remanded after found with unlicensed gun he claims was handed to him in bag

A 21-year-old Beterverwagting youth was today remanded to prison after being charged with being in possession of an unlicensed gun.

The youth, Hubert Clark, stood before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, and entered a plea of not guilty to the charge.

The Court was told that on May 20th, 2017 at the Stabroek Market, Clark had a 1.38 Pistol  in his possession without being the holder of a firearm license.

His Attorney, Dexter Todd, told the court that his client went to the market to purchase some Food items, when he met two of his friends, and was given a shopping bag to hold.

He said moments later the gun was discovered in the bag by a policeman who was in the area.

The Attorney asked that the youth be released on reasonable bail and even told the court that the gun does not even appear to be in working order since it was found with installation tape around it.

The accused was remanded and will make his next court appearance on the 14th June.
