Canadian national dead; Driver injured as vehicle plunges off bridge along Lethem trail

The Canadian man, Brandis Kennedy, was the passenger in the 4x4 vehicle being driven by Anthony Pillew when the driver lost control as he crossed the Manari Bridge. The vehicle plunged more than 30 feet into the creek below.

An 87-year-old Canadian national died in an early morning vehicle accident at Manari trial, Lethem.

The Canadian man, Brandis Kennedy, was the passenger in the 4×4 vehicle being driven by Anthony Pillew when the driver lost control as he crossed the Manari Bridge. The vehicle plunged more than 30 feet into the creek below.

The incident occurred around 3:10 this morning.

According to a Police statement, the two men were removed from the vehicle by passers-by and taken to the Lethem Hospital.

Kennedy was pronounced dead on arrival and his body is at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The other man, Anthony Pillew was treated for abrasions and admitted.  An investigation is ongoing.
