The Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), was forced today to abort the dumping of cocaine at sea after several of its ranks who were involved in the exercise became ill.

The ranks traveled out to sea this morning to destroy and dump over 600 pounds of cocaine, but just moments after the exercise started, some of CANU ranks became dizzy and started to vomit.

They had only destroyed just over 80 pounds of the illegal substance at the time.

After the mission was aborted, the remaining cocaine was taken back to CANU headquarters for storage.

According to CANU, the cocaine represented busts that took place between November 2013 to January of this year.

The agency will now be looking to dispose of the cocaine at a later date. It is likely to return to the burning of the illegal substance at a suitable location, rather than the dumping out at sea.
