A couple from Cuba will remain guests of Guyana after admitting in Court that they forged Canadian Permanent resident cards.

The two were arrested at the Cheddi Jagan Airport as they were attempting to use the bootleg document in an effort to fly to Canada.

The two claim that they bought the cards online and paid US$2000 each. They claimed that they did not know the cards were false but admitted that they were not issued by any Canadian immigration authority.

Following the admission, 28-year-old Tahimi Batista and 29-year-old José Rodrigues were each sentenced to nine months in jail.
