Deportee being sought for cocaine in achar

The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit is looking for a U.S Deportee who the agency believes in linked to the recent drug busts at the Cheddi Jagan airport which involved two passengers who had cocaine hidden in packets of achar.

CANU has issued a wanted bulletin for Tarachandra Persaud aka Doce or Dos. Investigators believe he may be the man who is the brain behind the cocaine in achar parcels that were destined for the United States.

Agents believe he also goes by a number of other names. His last known address was Republic Park, East Bank Demerara.

He has found himself before the courts before on gun charges and was also the subject of an apparent execution attempt when a grenade was discovered under his car.

CANU wants anyone with information about the whereabouts of the man to contact its office on telephone number 227-3507.

Two persons, a 78-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman appeared in court on Monday and were slapped with drug trafficking charges after they were both busted at the Cheddi Jagan Airport with the cocaine laced achar.

Both of the accused pointed to other persons who they claimed provided them with the packages to take to the U.S. Earlier this week, CANU issued a wanted bulletin for a female Bourda shopkeeper in connection with the same case.
