Driver charged for causing death in Rockstone blow out accident
The Guyana Police Force on Friday charged 43-year-old, Michael Gordon of 21 Peter’s Hall, East Bank Demerara with causing death by dangerous driving committed on Raymond Khan, 65 years, of Cornelia Ida, WCD and Jean Williams, 63 years, of 21 Peter’s Hall, EBD, which occurred at Mabura Road, on September 14, 2014.
Gordon  appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Friday before Magistrate Fabio Azore and was placed on $1M bail.  The matter was transferred to the Christiansburg Magistrate Court to be heard on October 07, 2014.
Michael Gordon was the driver of the vehicle that the elderly siblings were traveling in along the Mabura Road last Sunday, when he lost control of the vehicle following a reported blow out of one of its tyres.
The vehicle toppled several times and the occupants were reportedly pitched from the inside. They were rushed to the Mackenzie Hospital where Doctors pronounced them dead. The driver and two other passengers were also injured and were treated at the Mackenzie and Georgetown Hospitals.
The Police Force and the Ministry of Works have been warning drivers to cut back on their speed along the dusty roadway located just outside of the town of Linden.
