A Guyanese man who was caught on CARICOM day with several packets of cocaine in his stomach at the Eugene Correia Airport at Ogle, was sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to the drug trafficking charge.

The man, 35-year-old Eaison Le-Blanc appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly and entered plea of guilty to the charge of drug trafficking.

After he was held, he was taken to the Woodlands Hospital, where he passed out 71 pellets of cocaine weighing a total of 774 grams of cocaine.

Reports indicate that on the day in question the convict was seen by the Custom Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) acting in a suspicious manner.

He was held and taken for an x-ray.

The x-ray revealed the presence of 71 objects in his stomach.

Just before the sentence was handed down, the man told the Court “I’m sorry for what had happened” .

He was also fined $5.1 million in addition to the four year jail sentence.
