According to the police, the elderly man appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Christianburg Magistrate Court where he was remanded to prison until October 20, 2013 when his matter will again come up for hearing.

The lifeless body of Chandradat Hussain was last Friday found hanging at a logging camp in the Berbice river.

At first, investigators believed that the man had committed suicide but a post-mortem report revealed that the man was strangled before his body was put to hang to make it appear as if he had committed suicide.

Police investigators have said they questioned several persons about the man’s death and that led them to the suspect who was eventually charged.
