Essequibo Coast accident claims lives of Mother and Baby and male nurse

The lives of a young mother, her six-month old baby and a male nurse were snuffed out yesterday afternoon along the Jib Public Road on the Essequibo Coast, after they were involved in an accident.

The three dead persons have been identified as 19-year-old Tristiana Joseph, her six-month old baby, Javon Joseph and male nurse, 38-year-old Corwin Paul.

The three were in motor car with registration number PSS-2174 being driven by Paul, when the tragedy occurred.

According to reports, the car was being driven at a fast rate as it approached a bridge and the driver lost control, slamming into a pick-up that was heading in the opposite direction.

The 80-year-old driver of that pick up has been hospitalised with several injuries.

The driver of the car and the young baby were declared dead on arrival at the Suddie Hospital. The young woman died three hours after as doctors fought to stabalise her.

An investigation has been launched into the accident.
