Essequibo men remanded to jail for 200 pound Pomeroon cocaine bust

Essequibo men remanded to jail for 200 pound Pomeroon cocaine bust

Just days after the GDF Coast Guard intercepted a vessel in the Pomeroon river with over 200 pounds of Cocaine, two men have been charged for cocaine possession for the purpose of trafficking.

45-year-old, John DaSilva called Martin of Grant Strong Hope,Pomeroon River and 34-Year-old Kevin Gordon of Jib Housing Scheme, Essequibo, stood before Chief Magistrate Ann Mclennan and both entered pleas not guilty to the charges.

The charge states that on the 17th July in the Pomeroon River the two were found with 94.954 Kilograms of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The two men were remanded to prison after bail was refused. Their next court appearance is set for August 28, 2017.

The Customs Anti Narcotics Unit is prosecuting the case.
