Fish Shop owner’s girlfriend charged with arson over fire at business place

Three weeks after the popular White Castle Fish Shop was gutted by fire, the reputed wife of the owner, Jermaine Langevine,  found herself before a City Magistrate facing arson charges.

The woman, Alexio Keizer, appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates Court and pleaded not guilty to setting the business place ablaze.

The charge read that on the 14th April at Hadfield Street, Georgetown, she set fire to the building owned by Krishandra Beharry with damages amounting to $8.3M and on the same day, she also damaged appliances owned by Jermaine Langevine worth in excess of $4.1M.

With no objections, bail was granted in the sum of $250,000 and the accused was ordered to return to Court on May 30th.
The early Saturday morning fire left millions of dollars in damages and has left the businessman counting losses and forced to relocate to the nearby Avenue of Hadfield Street.
It is alleged that after the woman could not make contact with Langevine, she turned up at the business place with gas and set the fire.
Quick action by the fire service restricted the fire to just the bottom flat of the building.
