Former Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh, has indicated that he is ready to cooperate with the Special Organised Crime Unit and any investigation that it may be conducting that may be connected to him.

Dr. Singh has hired former Attorney General, Anil Nandlall, as his legal representative and in a letter to SOCU yesterday, Mr. Nandlall indicated that although Dr. Singh is out of Guyana, he remains accessible, ready and willing to provide all or any information at his disposal that the unit might require.

The Attorney said information and questions for Dr. Singh could be channeled through him, as his legal representative.

Reports surfaced last week that SOCU wanted to question the former Finance Minister on several incidents related to money being spent from the nation’s treasury without approval in late 2014 and early 2015.

Additionally, Dr. Singh is being sought to provide answers to a number of questions related to other SOCU investigations involving units and agencies that were under the Finance Ministry while he served as Minister.

A number of members of the former administration have found themselves being probed by the special organized crime unit for various irregularities.

Among them is the former Attorney General, Anil NandalL, who is now the legal representative for the former finance minister. Nandlall was recently charged in connection with the alleged larceny of over $2 million in law books from the Legal Affairs Ministry
