Gafoor’s employee charged and remanded for murder of Herstelling man

A Gafoor’s employee was on Thursday charged with murdering his manager at his Lot 39 Herstelling, East Bank Demerara home on Thursday last.

Twenty four-year-old David Outar appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’s Court before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan where he was charged and remanded.

The accused who resides at Foulis, East Coast Demerara was not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder. No facts were read in court either and Outar was remanded until August 23.

However, police had said previously that Outar admitted to murdering Gafoor’s manager 55-year-old Terry Lackhan.

Outar was arrested shortly after Lackhan’s body was discovered at his Herstelling home.

According to reports, Lackhan had invited the man to his home the evening.

He was found later with a rope tied around his neck. Police said he was strangled.

Neigbhours reported seeing Outar leaving the man’s yard late the night.

Another suspect who is also employed at Gafoor’s is being sought by the police.
