GCC female Hockey team members held at gunpoint and robbed

Three members of the National Female Hockey team got an unceremonious welcome home early this morning (Monday) as they were held at gunpoint and robbed of their luggage and valuables moments after arriving in the country as they made their way home. The incident took place just after 2am.

News Source understand that the three players were picked up at the airport by the husband of one of them. They had just arrived in Georgetown and were about to take one of the ladies to her house when a car with three men pulled up and held them at gunpoint.

The hockey players were robbed of all of their luggage and even their hockey gears. However, the three robbers gave them back their passports before they escaped.

The coach of the team told News Source that he was shocked over the incident but is relieved that no one was hurt.

He explained that as a cost cutting measure, the hockey players would have their relatives pick them up at the airport whenever they return from an overseas trip.

The hockey ladies were in Trinidad over the past few days taking part in a tournament.
