GPL parts ways with Loss Reduction Director

The Guyana Power and Light Company has parted ways with its Loss Reduction Director Kumar Sharma. A Senior company official has confirmed the moved.

Company officials were tight-lipped on Wednesday over the decision to let the senior official of the company go.

News Source understands that the company’s board expressed major concerns over Sharma’s performance on the job and his supervision over the loss reduction department and other related issues.

Reports indicate that GPL Directors were locked in several meetings over the past two days related to the decision to cut ties with the Loss Reduction Director.

When News Source contacted Chairman of GPL, Winston Brassington, he would offer no comment telling News Source that he was locked in a meeting and should be contacted later in the week. Other senior company officials were also unavailable for comment.

The position of Loss Reduction Director is an executive one and the holder of that position would have to report directly to the GPL board. There are reports that the company’s Chief Executive Officer may have been left in the dark with regard to the decision.

The GPL Board is expected to issue a statement on its decision this week.
