Local telecommunications giant, GTT, on Saturday opened its newest retail store in the Giftland Mall as it gears up for the busy holiday shopping season.
The store which is located on the 2nd floor of the mall will offer all of the GTT services and products that are available at its branches across the country.
According to the company, the opening of the new store is in keeping with its “do more” promise and the “new trendy modern store offers mobile, landline, DSL, mobile money and serves as a Payment Centre”.
GTT is expected to open a number of other retail stores within the coming weeks across the country, including a large one in the Fogarty’s building on Water Street.
Acting Chief Executive Office of GTT, Justin Nedd, on Saturday told News Source that the company is prepared to roll out next generation services, including 3G and 4G services, once the government provides the spectrum that is required.
“Next year, we will be working hard to ensure that GTT is known for three things which would be to keep our promises, be easy to do business with and move with speed to get things done”, Nedd said.

He said he is optimistic that the government will soon provide the company with the required spectrum to improve its service and deliver better quality and more services.
According to Mr. Nedd, “I know that this government is very keen on liberalizing the sector and granting spectrum so that we can free the customers from slow 2G experience because all we need to get next generation services is spectrum and the Government of Guyana and the Frequency Management Unit are the people to give us the authority to use that spectrum.”
He added that “once they give us spectrum, in a few months, we will buy some equipment and install that equipment and customers will get the 3G and 4G services.”
The government is expected to present and pass legislation for the liberalization of the telecommunications sector soon.
