Guns and ammunition recovered as Police grill suspects in Pomeroon double murder

As Police Homicide Detectives continue to grill the main suspect in the gunning down of two men in a Pomeroon river community, two guns and several rounds of ammunition have been found.

Additionally, the widow of one of the men who was gunned down has also been taken into custody for questioning.

In a Tuesday afternoon statement, the Guyana Police Force announced that during the interview with one of the persons who is assisting with the probe, investigators were led to a  location where a bag was retrieved and examined.

In that bag, the Police found a 9mm Beretta pistol with magazine, a .38 revolver, sixteen (16) live cartridges, twenty-one (21) live .38 rounds, nineteen (19) live 9mm rounds, six (6) live .32 rounds, two (2) 9mm spent shells and fifty-one and a half (51 ½) grams of marijuana.

The items are believed to have been the property of one of the men who was shot dead.

On Sunday, the two men Ambrose Baharally and Martin Godette were shot moments after they were seen in a heated conversation with a group of men close to a landing.

The assailants made their escape in a speed boat, but Police investigators have been receiving information about the suspects and other persons who may have been involved in the double murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
