Guyanese woman busted in Barbados with cocaine in vagina

A 23-year-old Guyanese woman who arrived in Barbados on Saturday with cocaine hidden in her vagina, has been sentenced to nine months in jail on the island and she will also have to pay a BDS$20,000 fine.

The woman has been identified as  Rochelle Amanda Gibson. She was slapped with four drug trafficking charges after she arrived in the land of the flying fish with the package of cocaine buried in her vagina.

According to reports out of the island, the cocaine weighed 8 ounces. She was charged with possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

According to media reports, she was convicted for the trafficking and importation charges while the other two were thrown out.

The woman was questioned intensely by customs and immigration authorities at the Grantley Adams Airport in Barbados and it was during that questioning that she removed the taped package from her “body cavity” and handed it over to the agents.

Her fine has not been paid.
