He is being remembered for his years of service to the country especially in the area of constitutional reform. He also served as a Commissioner of the Guyana Elections Commission and was the author of several books on Guyana's political landscape.

Haslyn Parris remembered as true son of the soil

Former Government Minister under the People’s National Congress administration, Haslyn Parris, has died.

He passed away yesterday at a city hospital after being rushed there from his home with an emergency health situation.

He is being remembered for his years of service to the country especially in the area of constitutional reform. He also served as a Commissioner of the Guyana Elections Commission and was the author of several books on Guyana’s political landscape.

President Granger has expressed sympathy to the Parris family.

Parris once served as Chief Economist, Bank of Guyana and Head of the State Planning Secretariat. He was also appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Guyana Bauxite Company and later, Minister of Planning and Development and Deputy Prime Minister.

He was also awarded with the Cacique Crown of Honour for his service to the nation over decades.

Haslyn Parris was 75-years-old.
