Insel Air now offering 2 Destinations for 1 price for vacation seekers

Flying high on its success in the Guyana market, regional carrier Insel Air is now offering vacation seekers the opportunity to visit two of its 27 destinations for the one price during the one trip.

Insel Air which has been operating flights from Georgetown to Aruba and Curacao for the past 18 months is seeking to get more Guyanese to visit the many other destinations that the airline offers.

Two senior officials of the Curacao flag carrier are currently in Guyana and have been meeting with officials in the tourism and travel industry in Guyana. They have already held discussions with Guyana’s Minister of Tourism, Cathy Hughes and have updated her on the airline’s offering.

Insel Air’s Chief General and International Affairs Officer, Edward Heerenveen told a media conference at the Roraima Duke Lodge that the airline is pleased with the response it has been getting from the Guyana marker and “the best is now here”.

“Now you can decide that while I am passing through the hub in Curacao or Aruba, I have people I know there and so I want to stay two days, it will not cost you an extra penny. And you can continue when you decide you want to leave, so we are offering an extra destination as you head to your final destination”, Heerenveen said.

The Insel Air Manager for Sales, Nicole Berenos, reiterated the advantages of seeing two destinations for the price of one and she explained that persons should visit the airline’s office at Duke Lodge in Guyana or their travel agents to take advantage of the offer.

She explained that if a vacation seeker finds a good fair to Aruba for just over US$230, they could make a stop in Curacao and enjoy the sights there while on their way to or from Aruba. The same applies for the other Insel Air destinations that form part of its network.

Insel Air is also seeking to firmly leave its mark in Guyana through various programmes. The International Affairs officer said the airline will soon launch an apprenticeship type programme in Guyana that will seek to bring Guyanese flight attendants and pilots on board with the airline.

He said the carrier will also be seeking to develop close ties with the Guyana government to assist in pushing destination Guyana to the other destinations.

Already, the airline has been marketing Guyana to many of its European and Asian customers as well as those in the Dutch Caribbean. He said the airline is already looking to build partnerships with local tour operators and hotels to coordinate travel to Guyana as part of the multi destination packages.

The airline is currently looking at the Atlanta market as one of its new destinations to possibly come on board soon. There is a large Guyanese population in Atlanta.

The airline’s Sales Manager told the media conference that the carrier is also big on giving back to the community and offers special discounts for groups, students and seniors.

Insel Air currently has a 70% load capacity on the Guyana route and is seeking to take that higher. With regard to recent concerns about some foreign nationals being denied entry in Guyana and deported, the airline officials said they will continue to follow the rules of Guyana as they do for other countries and once persons come in on their airline and are rejected entry, they will take them back out.

Aruba

The Guyana government is expected to soon publish official guidelines and requirements for persons seeking entry to Guyana.

Captain Gerry Gouveia of Roraima Airways said his company is pleased to be part of the Insel Air dream as the airline has added a major boost to travel across the Dutch Caribbean and latin america.

He said he is particularly pleased that Guyana’s Tourism Minister has her fingers firmly placed on the industry because of her experience in tourism, and he expects major advancements in the industry.

Insel currently operates six weekly flights from Guyana to Curacao and Aruba. Those two countries serve as the airline’s major hubs and from the two islands, travelers can go on to several other destinations across the region and to Charlotte, North Carolina and Miami in the United States.
