Jamaican passengers arrive with 62 pounds of marijuana at CJIA

Guyana has been encouraging Caricom nationals to come visit these shores to enjoy the flora and fauna. Well two Jamaican tourists have been arrested at the Cheddi Jagan Airport after they decided to bring in the weed.

The Guyana Police Force on Monday announced the arrest of a Jamaican man and a Jamaican woman after they arrived at the airport with over 60 pounds of compressed marijuana in their suitcases. The couple did not appear “high” when they arrived and did not offer to declare any plants on their arrival.

The names of the high-grade packing travellers have not been released, but Police investigators intend to contact their Jamaican counterparts about how the pair were able to make it pass airport security in Jamaica with the bags of marijuana in their suitcases.

Usually, Guyanese and other travellers are busted taking cocaine and marijuana out. The two Jamaican tourists may have preferred their own brand.

The Police Narcotics Branch continue to investigate the matter.
