A 20-year-old labourer at a saw milling company in Blueberry Hill, Linden was crushed to death today in a freak accident that is being probed by the Police.

The young man has been identified as Stephan Braithwaite aka “Grinch” of Block 22, Wismar.  According to a statement from the Police, the man was servicing one of the trucks in the compound of the lumber company when the tragedy happened.

He was reportedly drawing fuel from the truck that was packed with logs, when one of the logs rolled off and pinned him to the ground. Other workers heard a short scream and when they ran across, they saw the young man in an unconscious state.

They hurriedly removed the log but it appeared too late. The log had pinned him directly in the area of his abdomen, forcing one of his intestines to protrude.

He was rushed to the Linden Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Several persons at the sawmill are being questioned about the incident.
